Applying the LinkedIn Help spec

  • Format JPG
  • Maximum file size 3 MB
  • Shape 1512 × 256 pixels

LinkedIn gives a Company Page cover a very wide, very short frame: 1512 × 256 pixels, a ratio close to 6:1. Almost no photograph is that shape, so uploading one leaves LinkedIn to crop it, usually badly.

This page does the crop deliberately instead. Your image is trimmed from the centre to the right ratio and scaled to exactly 1512 × 256, in this browser tab.

    Common questions

Is this the same as the banner on my personal profile?

No, and this is the single most common mix-up. 1512 × 256 is the cover on a Company or Career Page. The background image on a personal profile is a different, taller frame — the figure usually quoted for it is 1584 × 396. This page applies the Pages spec, which is the one LinkedIn publishes on the help article linked below.

    Most of my image disappeared.

A 6:1 frame keeps a narrow horizontal strip through the middle of whatever you give it. Start from something already wide, or from an image where the part you care about sits in a band across the centre. A portrait photo will lose almost everything.
